Wood Burning Stoves
If you take the strict definition of what a wood burning stove is - a heating appliance capable of burning wood fuel - then it is also the most important discovery of man, fire. Of course if you take the word "appliance" more seriously than a slight hole in the ground then after hundreds of years of evolution you get the modern day stove.
In terms of method nothing much has changed in the last 200 hundred years as far as stoves work; wood goes inside, air vents control the amount of air and smoke escapes through the chimney. Where modern wood burning stoves have improved however is in form, design and efficiency.
Modern wood burning stoves are almost a work of art, more than capable of being a centrepiece of a room, home or indeed, your garden building. If your building is sufficiently insulated, a wood burning stove can provide enough energy to heat a small home and save money on gas bills during the winter months.
The main reason to have a wood burning stove is, of course, to have the comfort of a naked flame warming your body and soul.
