Survey Shows Working from Home Improves Quality of Life

A recent survey by office supply giant Staples has shown that employees are happier and healthier when they work from home. The company surveyed 140 home-workers (defined as those who work from home at least one day a week) from varying types and sizes of organisations, and found they experienced greater productivity, less stress and a better work/life balance.

86% of participants felt they were more productive at home, while 73% said they had started eating healthier since they started working from home. 76% of participants felt the elimination of a long commute increased their loyalty to the company, and 80% said their home life had improved due to the better work/life balance they now had. Other interesting findings included how employees enjoyed the lack of office politics and not having to spend too much time with co-workers.

These findings go a long way to showing how beneficial working from home can be. The main positives revolve around the fact that home working eliminates a lot of the more stressful side of office working, such as commuting. This leads to more time and focus to be productive and, in turn, this gives you a better balance between your work life and your home life.

A garden office from Decorated Shed gives you the ability to become one of the many people who are switching from working in an office to home-working, and this will improve your work/life balance dramatically. Plus, a garden office is the perfect way to solve the problem of working from a cramped office in your house, because it is much easier to keep a divide between your workspace and the rest of your home. Garden offices are easily dedicated to being a specific workspace, whereas an office in your house means you are more easily distracted.
