Summerhouses – Maximising your Garden

Summerhouses – Maximising your Garden

By Steven Willis on 11th January, 2011

Since the bite of winter is still very much with us, with ground frosts and snow-dustings a common sight, it might not feel like the right time to be thinking about getting back out into your garden and enjoying everything it has to offer. However, with a little preparation in these unwelcoming first months of the year you can have a garden that’s ready and waiting for you when the weather does decide to become more hospitable. One of the best ways to enjoy your garden in great weather is with a summerhouse.

Summerhouses as a concept are surprisingly general, and cover a wide-range of possible structures. Essentially a garden room designed around relaxation and recreation, a summerhouse can become your home-from-home in the summer months, existing as a space that helps you to make the most of your garden and spend long, lazy days out in the sun. When the sun goes down they offer a flexible indoor/outdoor area, ideal for entertaining or even just quiet relaxing evenings.

Last of all, despite the evocative name and the undoubted benefits in warm weather, summerhouses are equally capable of performing a useful role in any seasonal condition. While you obviously wouldn’t relish basking with the doors open when the temperature drops, the comfortable interior - enabled through the insulation levels - means that you can use the garden room all year round, whenever you like.
