Revive Romance - Valentine’s Day in a Garden Room
By Francesca McGlone on 1st February, 2011
With only two weeks until Valentine’s Day thoughts may well turn to possible gift ideas and outings, while it may slip the minds of many others, until a sudden onset of panic on the night of the 13th.
A simple but effective way to express adoration is to inventively adapt your surroundings. A garden room already exists as a romantic setting. The ambient light of a disappearing sun, together with the natural setting of a pretty garden presents an ideal environment in which couples can relax and enjoy each other’s company. The addition of soft candle light, in the form of tea lights or lanterns can further enhance organic beauty and the atmospheric peace of a night time garden. Even ornamental statues can add romantic charm, which can then be further illuminated by fairy lights, so that an already intimate venue can be made even more special.
Making your own gifts and cards is another way to express your feelings, rather than opting for a generic bought gift that runs the risk of becoming clichéd. A Valentine’s card that is hand crafted is especially significant in terms of its meaning. The maker has the option to create a unique card that reflects personal aspects of a relationship. It will also be appreciated more, due to the effort that has gone into its creation and most probably treasured as a result. Cards can be made tactile, with a mix of various fabrics that makes their character stand out from the rest. Cards that are made are always best to receive and to give.
Homemade food is also a traditional expression of love. Homemade chocolates, cakes and biscuits will earn you extra brownie points. Packaged in a box with a ribbon will also provide an extra flourish that will not fail to impress.
Valentine’s Day does not necessarily mean that lavish gifts need to be exchanged. Love can be expressed through simple gestures. A garden room already provides the perfect platform to elevate Valentine’s Day up to memorable heights.
