The benefits of premium materials
By Steven Willis on 14th December, 2009
Here at Decorated Shed we know that a garden building is only as good as the materials that come together to make it - that's why we use premium fixtures and fittings inside and out. By combining the very best materials available we're fulfilling the original aims of our designs, and providing you with a garden building that will give a lifetime of functional use.
We use Western Cedar cladding for all of our buildings because of its remarkably durable qualities. With minimal periodic treatment, Western Cedar cladding can provide a robust and resilient exterior for 50 years or more. As well as it's weather-proof properties, Western Cedar also has a delightfully natural colour tone and pattern that gives the garden building a genuinely warm appearance, and helps it to blend with its surroundings.
The windows used in Decorated Shed garden offices, studios and buildings are double glazed, triple-laminated and PEFC-certified timber framed, to provide year-round insulation and ultra low energy loss. The frame systems used in our windows and doors are toughened for security and safety, with locks and mechanisms engineered to insurance standard.
Heating and insulation are two of the main elements of any Decorated Shed building, and we've designed our range to accommodate a broad selection of options to suit your own preferences. Under-floor heating, wood-burning stoves and slim-line wall units are some of the most popular choices, however larger units such as the Barn can comfortably utilise solar panels or geothermal heating solutions if required. Whichever heating system you choose for your Decorated Shed garden building you have the peace of mind of knowing that it will be working in tandem with the in-built insulation that is standard in every one of our buildings. With a thickness of 100mm - 150mm the multi-layered wall structure exceeds current house build standards, ensuring high performance from the outset.
These elements represent just a snapshot of the high grade materials that come together to make a Decorated Shed garden building. Take a look around the site for more information on Decorated Shed's range, or call 0845 250 0028 to find out more.
