Northern Virginia office building awarded LEED Platinum certificate

By Matthew Thompson on 24th February, 2011

14630 Newbrook Drive, a large office space in the US state of North Virginia has been awarded the LEED Platinum certificate to warrant its green construction methods. Due to the scale of the structure, constructors focused on the water management of the 165,000 square feet building and were able to capture the majority of storm water in the area to re-use in swales, ponds and a rain-garden. Other environmental methods consist of a white roof, low flow irrigation and an efficient plumbing system which includes waterless urinals, 1.28 gpf toilets and intelligent building systems.

The thought and design that has gone into the BPG Commonwealth centre, can also be seen in Decorated Shed’s garden office design. Our garden offices are environmentally designed and built to provide the best working atmosphere for you. As well as eco-friendly building methods, your garden office is situated in the background of your garden, so you work bathed in natural light from the expansive windows whilst the nature around you inspires the work you are doing.

Here at Decorated Shed, we care for the environment and the future resources and we aim to show that through our designs. We do not however sacrifice the beauty of the designs of our buildings, which stand proudly amongst the nature in any garden. Similar to 14630 Newbrook Drive, a Decorated Shed garden office is a place of work which offers fantastic views, as the vast office space offers panoramic views of the surrounding area and your garden office allows you to witness environment in which you are working first hand. From the flexible and productive setting of your garden office, you can boost your business and use it as a base to evolve and grow in the future.
