How to go green - 5 things you didn\\\'t know about your laundry

In all of our daily chores these days, new green ideas and procedures are becoming common knowledge. By reducing the amount of hot water you use, washing in full loads and switching to eco friendly detergents and have a huge environmental impact.

  1. Between 75% and 80% of your clothing's lifecycle comes from washing and drying.
  2. The average household does almost 400 loads of washing each year, consuming about 13,500 gallons of water.
  3. An Energy saving clothes washer can save you £450 in operating costs over its lifetime.
  4. 90 % of all energy used by a washing machine goes to heating the water; only 10 percent is used to power the motor.
  5. Using eco detergents will get your clothes just as clean, but is so much better for the environment.

So by making small changes can have a big impact on our environment so the sooner the above points are considered the better.
