Green Exercise

By Dawn Kubicek on 23rd June, 2010
When it comes to exercise - the gym or aerobics classes might spring to mind although many of us do go for runs in our local communities or towns.
The term Green Exercise has been receiving a lot of attention since 2000 through the research work of Prof. Jules Pretty at the University of Essex.
The research shows that green, natural environments can improve psychological health, reduce stress levels and build up self esteem. We touched on this subject in the article 'Boost productivity and beat stress with a garden office'. Being exposed to nature allows you to relax and recharge your batteries which improve mental and physical health.
See the University of Essex's Green Exercise report where results show that people on a treadmill still have a higher blood pressure than those in the country taking in beautiful scenery.
These theories are all important points for modern day lives and should be taken advantage of. An outdoor garden studio can enhance all the above points by giving you time and space to relax in outdoor surroundings and improve your wellbeing.
