Gorgeous Green-Roofed Home in Madrid

By Dawn Kubicek on 30th July, 2010
Todays architecture news has a beautiful house to show off in Madrid. Situated in a country setting this single-residence home has a substantial green roof and a low profile even considering its actual scale. Design and green building has been the motive of this energy efficient, inventive home.
Lighting is used on the outside of the building which adds to its individuality. The interiors are ultra modern, using the large spaces efficiently with built in kitchens and bathrooms. Again lighting is at the essence of the design adding to its character and overall look.
The projects sloping walls and vegetated ramps hide a sizable home. They grey concrete further reduces the homes visual impact and tucks the envelope behind a green facade. A large scale of planted greenery floods all the way around the build and the green built, sustainable roof reduces the heat from the Spanish sun.
This new build provides a habitat for animals and filters rainwater runoff, with solar thermal hot water tubes for domestic use inside.
Horner House is Decorated Shed's partner company, where larger sustainably built structures are designed and created. These can range from homes, holiday homes and micro homes. Like Decorated Shed's garden studios they are eco friendly and built to individual specifications to keep up with modern day life-styles.
