Fun and Games in a Sports Hall Building
By Francesca McGlone on 16th March, 2011
A sports hall provides youth with the perfect arena to stretch its legs. The art of athleticism can be displayed, while sporting talent has the opportunity to emerge, develop and shine.
Our contemporary school buildings are all strikingly beautiful and spacious and can instantly enhance the appearance of a school’s grounds; their exterior instantly appeals to a younger generation, while the interior teams functionally with impressive features. A school that invests in sport showcases a forward thinking attitude, as it acknowledges exercise as a useful and important part of education that is wholly beneficial and can be carried through to other aspects of life.
A sports hall can play host to an array of games including, basketball, indoor cricket, volleyball and football; it can exist as a motivational structure that can be treasured as a centre for community and recreational indulgence. A general enthusiasm for sport and exercise can spread to other subjects, so that students become more receptive to learning.
The option of a bespoke sports hall means that your school is supplied with exactly what it needs. New sports facilities can even encourage more members to join after school sports clubs, so that exercise becomes a source of enjoyment, worthy of precious free time that is spent constructively. A sports hall that boasts state-of-the-art changing rooms provides comfortable, attractive surroundings that promote social exchanges and a real sense of camaraderie that helps create a complete experience.
The benefits of exercise and sport are abundant. Team games can strengthen friendships and bonds, increasing confidence and a sense of belonging as a team works together towards a shared goal. Sport tests both mental and physical agility, while skills are honed and tactics are devised. To a generation where computer games have become a huge passion, the reality of exercise may seem quite daunting. Rather than experiencing football on a computer screen, actually being physically there on a pitch, amongst the action can present a dynamic and variable experience that does much more for wellbeing and fitness than a virtual imitation. P.E is a scheduled form of exercise and may be the only time some young people participate and engage in sport. Ensuring that it is a rewarding experience should be of paramount importance, so that a life long respect for exercise can be forged; this will help to maintain good health and prevent the onset of chronic diseases later in life.
Playing sport teaches people about the positive and negative aspects of life, where both successes and failures become part and parcel of competition. Developing strategies also sees otherwise hidden leadership qualities come to light, which can help be a very useful attribute to acquire and build upon; strength and authority are useful attributes to acquire early on, as they can be developed and applied in adulthood.
Playing sports is a constructive expenditure of energy, as it strengthens the bones and muscles, providing the whole body with a generous workout. Better balance, suppleness and improved sleep are just some of the advantages that are on offer when the body and mind are exposed to exercise.
Exercise is a free and easy way to achieve happiness, as it naturally keeps depression and anxiety at bay; with exams, peer pressure and the adjustment that comes with adolescence, P.E can be an effective way to improve mood.
A strong sense of self can be struck up when playing a sport, as time is devoted to honing a specific skill set, which leads to a great sense of accomplishment and fulfilment. A sports hall that encourages pupils to take advantage of sport’s tonic-like character is an enduring asset for every school site.
A new sports hall by Decorated Shed can enable the sometimes negative attitudes towards exercise to transform into an event that promises fun and enjoyment in spades.
