Eco Nursery practices what it preaches
By Matthew Thompson on 27th January, 2011
A recently completed environmental classroom in Madrid, aims to give children and locals first hand experience of the importance of consumption behaviour and teach about energy related issues. Built on an old industrial area, the Ecopolis Plaza springs from the ground full of light and space and gives a fresh perspective to the dusty landscape. The innovative canvas outer shell provides a microclimate inside where lessons on energy usage can be held and social gatherings can meet. Integrating ecological initiatives, such as the water purification system, Ecopolis Plaza has been recognized as a building dedicated to environmental issues and informing people of the benefits to green building.
Decorated Shed feel strongly about the environment, thought which can be seen in our garden room designs. The use of GreenShell Composite system, which is made from recycled wood chippings allow your garden building to breathe. This provides the perfect climate where you can relax or even work. Similar to the Ecopolis Plaza, a garden room has a seamless transition from outside to in with the expansive windows allowing light to flood into the space.
Maintaining or impacting as little on the environment as possible should be a priority when constructing an eco-friendly building. Modern design and environmental thinking can be seen in the Ecopolis Plaza and Decorated Shed's garden rooms, with each displaying characteristics of a sustainable building. It is important that we are aware of the impact we are having on the environment, and in the future buildings which do minimum damage to the environment should be favoured.
