Eco-Build in Taiwan showcases 13 different methods

By Matthew Thompson on 24th January, 2011

The Y.S Sun Green Building Research Centre in Tainan has recently been completed and is looking to collect the biggest awards for environmental performance. The building has already been nicknamed the 'Magic School of Green Technology' as it is the first zero-carbon build in Taiwan. The diverse methods used in the building have helped to reduce its prospective energy usage by 65% per year. The building consists of 5 different methods for the ventilation, 2 methods to reduce equipment usage, 5 methods of renewable energy usage. The building is the first of its kind in Taiwan, with the city of Tainan hoping it starts the beginning of their sustainable development.

Obviously a great deal of thought has gone into the construction and design of the Y.S Sun Green Building. This is mirrored in the way Decorated Shed creates the designs for our garden rooms and studios. In all our builds, we aim to impact as minimally on the environment as possible. The GreenShell Composite panel system we use is made from recycled wood chippings and is highly insulating. We can also integrate renewable energy power supplies into the design, and our garden rooms designs can include under floor heating and solar panels.

The research centre has achieved its aim at becoming the first zero carbon building in Taiwan, and can hopefully become an example for other prospective eco-builds to aspire to. When building Decorated Shed's premium garden rooms, we are always conscious about our surroundings and the environment; we value nature and always make sure our buildings fit in perfectly to the background of your garden. So whether it is a garden studio or a four story office block, having as little impact as possible on the environment should be one of the primary aims.
