Dumpster pools in the streets of Manhattan this summer!

Last year a lucky few made a splash in Brooklyn's dumpster pools which can be very convenient in the sweltering heat these days. They are placed in various points within the actual city located on the streets. A dumpster pool is literally made out of old rubbish cans and bins which is constructed into a small swimming pool about 8 feet wide and 22 feet long, with a sloped bottom between 3 and 5 ½ feet deep. So a swim could be the new coffee break in the city for the first three Sundays of August when the dumpster pools are available.

The pools were designed by Brooklyn-based Macro-Sea studios, who turn unwanted goods and objects into unexpected outlets for entertainment. They hope that the dumpster pools will show people that:

"with not too much expense you can creatively reuse what is basically considered urban detritus and make something really cool and fun and also fairly easy to put together."

Decorated Shed believe the use of recycled materials is a big part of all of our futures. Starting to act on this now is important and we support this through our eco friendly buildings, garden studios and garden offices. A wide variety of recycled materials are available for our builds along with eco interiors.

Despite Manhattans dubious name for the recycled pools, they will be clean, fully lined, and equipped with a water filtration system.
