Decorative Christmas Wreath for your Garden Office

Christmas wreaths are an assortment of flowers, leaves, twigs and fruit and are assembled into a ring shape. They symbolise the advent season in Christianity and are used as decorative pieces over the Christmas period. People hang them on front doors and in some cultures they are used as headdresses at ceremonial events. They are originally made from evergreen as they symbolise strength and everlasting life, evergreens are used as they last through the harshest of winters. You can make your garden office a festive retreat on the run up to Christmas by adding seasonal decorations, putting a wreath on your garden office will add colour to your Decorated Shed building and make you feel excited for the coming holiday celebrations.

Making an evergreen Christmas wreath:

1. You will need to gather a selection of garden trimmings; ideal clippings for a wreath are cedar, pine, fir, redwood and magnolia. Red berries and holly also need to be collected to make sure your wreath is festive and to ensure it adds a colourful decoration to your frosted garden office.

2. Using a frame will be beneficial for this as you need a structure to wrap the trimmings around. A wire coat hanger can be used as they are easily bent into a circle shape. The shape will also be the basis for wrapping the floral wire around that you will be attaching the foliage to. You can start anywhere around the frame, tie it and then continue to wrap it around the frame as you go.

3. Carefully select your garden trimmings and hold them all together with the stems at one end and place the bundle where the floral wire is connected at the top of the frame. Hold the bundle and wrap the floral wire around it. Repeat this twice to make sure it is secure.

4. Start to wind another bundle overlapping the last one, ensure they are going in the same direction and secure. Keep repeating this until you achieve a full circle. Tuck the last bundle underneath the first bundle to complete it. Trim with pruning shears to neaten up.

Berries and ferns can be added by additional floral wire to add colour and textures, making it more of a feature for your garden office. It will create a joyful place to work on the countdown to Christmas and create a beautiful winter scene in your garden with a natural, fresh and colourful feature.
