Can you make a walking boot with less environmental impact?

Can you make a walking boot with less environmental impact?

Patagonia Footwear was one of five out of sixty foot wear companies in America to achieve the 'zero impact challenge' in Backpackers magazine summer 2010.

The Patagonia is known as the P26. P for Patagonia and apparently the human foot has 26 bones, whilst also covering 26 square inches when it comes in contact with the earth's surface! These greener backpacking boots are released in October 2010.

Their soles are made up from 50% recycled content including 20% recycled rubber in toe, recycled zinc lace hooks which require substantially less heat to mould, and all leathers are specially sourced. It is nice to know footwear and clothing companies support sustainable design along with Decorated Shed garden studios zinc and rubber roofs. Recycled materials are proving more popular as global warming and environmental care issues rise and are changing business strategies and ideas regarding material usage.

Leather can interestingly be returned to soil -- given appropriate conditions, so after care procedures of products must be made common knowledge amongst us consumers for all the things we buy and use - not just shoes.
