A Zen Paradise for Your New Garden Office

A Zen Paradise for Your New Garden Office

When discussing the main advantages of a Decorated Shed garden office, we always talk about how it is a place where you can focus and be inspired. It is different to a home office because you aren’t affected by other distractions in your house. If this particular advantage appeals to you, you should also have a garden that creates a feeling of calmness and tranquillity. Japanese Zen style gardens are great for this, and creating one is a lot easier than you might think.

Japanese Zen gardens tend to focus heavily on gravel or stone, while water and water features are very rarely used. Large, carefully selected rocks are used as feature pieces for the garden, while the smaller gravel is carefully raked round the larger stones. This careful raking is used to represent waves and ripples, while the stones represent mountains and islands. This process of selection is designed to create a ‘scene’ to be viewed from certain vantage points, with the idea being to calm the mind.

To add some greenery to the garden, shaped shrubs are often interspersed with the rocks and gravel. Plants used in the garden should be plants that thrive in dry soil. This could include Yucca plants, Juniper and Rosemary.

Whether you decide to authentically recreate a Japanese Zen garden, or just use certain elements to create a striking feature, a Decorated Shed garden office will always look right at home. The modern styling of Decorated Shed garden offices go hand in hand with the minimal look of a Japanese Zen garden. Plus, Japanese Zen gardens are designed to be enjoyed all year round, as is a Decorated Shed garden office. Each garden office is made to very high standards and requires very little heating or cooling at any time of the year.
