Unlock the Potential of a Garden Room
By Francesca McGlone on 20th October, 2010
Decorated Shed offer the option to experience the beauty and novelty of a garden room that once installed, works to instantaneously transform an existing domestic lifestyle. Their separation from the main house means that a sense of privacy and escapism can be achieved, as garden greenery presents a natural haven of tranquillity.
The extra space can be reserved for favourite activities, such as television, games or reading. A garden room can also serve as a library, as a reader naturally acquires a stockpile of novels, which may otherwise begin to invade the living space without a designated storage area. However, a garden room does not have to be dedicated solely to a specific use but can house a selection of interests, making the space a compilation of favourites.
The main house can often become cramped with an accumulation of overflowing clutter that eventually makes the home oppressive and uncomfortable. With the extra space a garden room provides, the excess clutter that once looked cramped in the main house can have its own space in which its appeal can be fully uncovered, without conflicting against other established elements within the main house. Record collections, artworks, photos or toys can be stored in a garden room, so that the main house’s functionality is not compromised or the décor detracted from. In warmer the extra fresh aired space of the garden can be taken advantage of, as the threshold between a garden room and the outdoors melts away with tri-folding glass doors, so that warm summer months can be fully appreciated incorporating the entertainment that exists within the garden room.
A separate garden room detached from the main house works on the existing premise of a garden shed but is reworked to take on a luxurious form, complete with electricity and efficient heating that completes the idyllic notion of personal space. A garden room also acts as a perfect retreat as events occurring in the main house may not always suit every member of the family. For instance a spouse may have a girl’s night in planned and a husband may want to retire to another room. However, a separate room in the house may be less of a viable option as noise from both parties, be it television or laughter can penetrate the walls. In a garden room, the music and television volume can be increased creating an enjoyable environment without disturbing others. Having some time and space within a couple of family can actually strengthen relationships, a garden room means that living in each others pockets need not be an issue.
A garden room as a stand alone structure means that it can be reserved especially for enjoyable activities, epitomising relaxation, while simultaneously acting as a rare and dynamic integration into a family living.
