Is telecommuting really green?

Is telecommuting really green?

The answer is yes. Transportation is one of the biggest work related impacts on the environment - even telecommuting for half of your working week will not only save you money but save a lot of CO2.

So once telecommuting is part of your life and schedule with one of Decorated Sheds premium energy efficient garden offices - here are a few ideas of how you can make your telecommute as green as possible:

Combine trips out:
Even though you are secluded in your garden office - a break from your home surroundings will be needed, so plan your breaks and trips out together. If you need to go to the supermarket or visit friends - do it on the same day.

Eat green:

Working at home will give you the chance to eat homemade lunches with fresh ingredients, or even take advantage of last night's dinner! It will also reduce waste from drinks and snack cartons.

Use a laptop:
A laptop uses a fraction of the energy that a computer uses. So if you have the choice - go for a laptop, which of course will also come in handy if you need to transport it anywhere.

Go Virtual:
If you are working for a company with physical offices, see if you can encourage others to work from home. If we start creating an economy that needs less office buildings to home workers, and less roads to get them from home to the office, that's when telecommuting will really help the environment.
