Home gyms maximise workouts

By Steven Willis on 12th November, 2010

Home gyms are an increasingly popular concept for many of us, delivering the benefits of a workout while avoiding the inconvenience of a members-only gym. However, working out at home can become problematic, to the point where the actual exercising is the least exerting part of the process. The excessive size of modern gym equipment can often mean that when you’re using a spare bedroom or garage you’re restricting yourself in terms of how many machines you can have, as well as how regularly and intensively they can actually be used.

Space considerations aside, the movement and mechanics of various exercise machines don’t sit well with being in a room within the house. Rowing machines, exercise bikes, cross-trainers, treadmills, weights benches and multi-gyms are all heavy-duty pieces of kit that create inevitable noise and vibrations when they in use. After all, they’re designed to be used in gyms, not spare bedrooms. These effects can cause significant disturbances to other people in the house, or even neighbours, making a workout a compromised and uncomfortable activity.

One solution to the various problems that home gyms can create is a dedicated garden gym building. By taking your gym equipment out of the house into a bespoke designed room that can comfortably contain it and its usage, you’re effectively liberating your exercise regime from a cramped and incompatible space into somewhere it can thrive.

As well as providing the space to use equipment more effectively, garden gyms also put your workout in an inspirational and healthy environment. Surrounded by the greenery and natural qualities of the garden, in a light-filled space, your workouts will be invigorated.
